Advanced Content Formatting
Label One includes a unique shortcode system for creating visually interesting layouts:
Creating Side-by-Side Sections
When writing your article in the Shopify admin:
- Wrap content in section tags to create alternating layouts
- Inside each section, use content tags for text
- Use image tags for images
This creates:
- First section: Text on right, image on left
- Second section: Text on left, image on right
- Pattern continues for additional sections
Use the side-by-side layout to create engaging, magazine-style articles that keep readers interested through visual variety.
Adding Special Notes
To create a separate notes section:
- Wrap notes content in notes tags
- This content will appear in the Notes block (if added to your layout)
Comments Section
If blog comments are enabled in your Shopify settings:
- Add the Article comments block to display:
- Existing comments with pagination
- Comment submission form
- Success/error messages
- Comments are managed in your Shopify admin under Blog posts
Comments require approval in your Shopify admin before appearing on your live site. This helps prevent spam and maintain quality discussions.
Best Practices for Engaging Articles
Image Optimization
- Use high-quality featured images (1200 × 800 pixels recommended)
- Compress images before uploading (under 200KB ideal)
- When using section layouts, keep images consistent in size
- Use descriptive alt text for all images (SEO + accessibility)
Content Structure
- Use clear, descriptive titles (under 60 characters for best display)
- Break content into short paragraphs for readability
- Use the Notes section for key takeaways or product specifications
- Include internal links to connect articles to relevant products
Mobile Considerations
- Preview your article on mobile devices
- The section layout automatically stacks on mobile (image above text)
- Consider using responsive text sizes
- Ensure touch targets (links, buttons) are large enough
SEO Optimization
- Write compelling, keyword-rich titles
- Include descriptive alt text for all images
- Use internal links to connect articles to relevant products
- Add meta descriptions in Shopify's blog post settings
Link your blog articles to relevant products throughout the content. This drives traffic from educational content to product pages, improving conversion rates.
Block Organization Tips
Recommended block order:
- Breadcrumbs (for navigation context)
- Title (main heading)
- Author + Published date (credibility)
- Thumbnail (visual interest)
- Content (main article)
- Notes (key takeaways)
- Comments (community engagement)
For minimal layouts:
- Title
- Published date
- Content
- Comments
Changes made in preview mode won't affect your live store until you publish. Always preview on multiple devices before publishing.
