Cart Guide
Label One offers a versatile cart system with two display options: a traditional cart page and a convenient slide-out cart drawer.
The cart includes product recommendations, free shipping indicators, order notes, gift message options, and customizable empty cart actions.
Setting Up Your Cart
Choosing Your Cart Type
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes
- Click Customize on your Label One theme
- Click Theme Settings in the sidebar
- Navigate to the Cart section
- Under "Cart type," select either:
- Page — Full-page cart experience
- Drawer — Slide-out drawer cart
Auto-Navigation Settings
In the same Cart settings section:
- Toggle Auto-navigate after adding to cart to control whether customers are automatically taken to the cart after adding items
- Enable Show cart item count to display the number of items beside the cart icon
Cart Drawer Configuration
Size and Layout
In Theme Settings → Cart section:
- Choose between Small (380px) or Large (580px) drawer sizes
- Select Fix cart drawer footer to bottom to keep the checkout area visible
- Choose whether to show Total or Subtotal prices
View Cart Button
- Enable Show checkout button to display a "View Cart" button in the drawer
- This gives customers the option to proceed to the full cart page from the drawer
Cart Drawer Appearance
In Theme Settings → Colors section:
- Under "Drawers," select a Cart drawer color scheme
- Enable Show drawer background for a solid background
- Toggle Show drawer borders as desired
In Theme Settings → Typography section:
- Set Cart drawer text style to use either heading or body font
Free Shipping Promotion
In Theme Settings → Cart section:
- Enter your desired amount in the Free Shipping Threshold field
- This adds a progress bar showing customers how close they are to free shipping
- Leave blank to disable this feature
Set a free shipping threshold that's 20-30% above your average order value to encourage higher cart values without being unrealistic.
Order Notes & Gift Messages
In Theme Settings → Cart section:
- Enable Show notes to allow customers to add special instructions
- Enable Show gift message option to add a gift message field
- Select the Gift message position (above or below order notes)
Enable gift messages during holiday seasons (November-December) to improve customer experience and increase conversions.
Empty Cart Configuration
When a customer's cart is empty, you can direct them to continue shopping:
In Theme Settings → Cart section:
- Configure up to three buttons with custom text and links
- For example, set Button 1 to "Continue Shopping" and link to your main collection
Recommended button setup:
- Button 1: "Shop All Products" → Main collection
- Button 2: "New Arrivals" → New products collection
- Button 3: "Sale Items" → Sale collection
Product Recommendations
Increase average order value by showing related products in the cart:
In Theme Settings → Cart section:
- Enable Show recommended products
- Select a Collection for recommendations
- Set the Number of products to show (2-12)
Showing more than 6 recommended products can slow down cart loading. For best performance, limit recommendations to 4-6 products.
Cart Page Customization
The cart page can be customized directly in the theme editor:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes
- Click Customize on your Label One theme
- Navigate to the Cart page
- Customize:
- Cart heading size and alignment
- Breadcrumb navigation display
- Section padding and spacing
- Enable/disable sticky footer
- Color scheme

Drawer vs Page
- Use the drawer for a streamlined experience and to keep customers in their shopping flow
- Use the page for a detailed cart review, especially for complex products or B2B stores
Free Shipping
- Set a strategic threshold to encourage higher order values
- Display the threshold prominently to motivate customers
- Consider seasonal adjustments (lower threshold during slower periods)
Empty Cart Buttons
- Direct customers to collections, promotions, or new arrivals
- Use action-oriented button text ("Shop Now", "View Collection")
- Test different button combinations to see what drives conversions
Recommendations
- Show complementary products to increase average order value
- Keep the selection focused (4-6 products maximum)
- Choose products that pair well with typical cart items
Gift Message
- Enable during holiday seasons to improve customer experience
- Consider enabling year-round if you sell gift-friendly products
- Position gift message option prominently when enabled
